David Weil is the Chairman of SCM Insurance Services. Mr. Weil has more than two decades of experience working in information and business services companies. He founded and served as CEO of iiWisdom, the leading provider of interactive governance solutions for companies and investors, which he built in partnership with BlackRock until its sale to ISS. Previously, he was a Managing Director, Head of Information Services Banking, and Co-Head of Media Investment Banking at Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch where he advised large public companies on a range of strategic issues, mergers and contested situations. He started his career at Fidelity Investments. Mr. Weil serves as an industry advisor to Warburg Pincus, a Senior Advisor to the governance firm CamberView, and host of the Fall Engagement Summit. Mr. Weil holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
Eric Berke is the Managing Partner of TorQuest and joined at inception in 2002. Prior to TorQuest, Eric led the turnaround and sale of Gustin Kramer, a manufacturer of paper and non-woven consumer products, where he served as the company's President and CEO and controlling shareholder from 1994 to 2002. Eric serves as a director on each of the TorQuest portfolio companies and previously served on the boards of all of TorQuest’s realized investments. Outside of TorQuest, Eric serves as a director on the Tandem Expansion board and has formerly served as a director of the Toronto Board of Trade, the Canadian Venture Capital Association and Crescent School. Eric has been a member of the World Presidents’ Organization/Young Presidents' Organization since 1994.
Eric holds an MBA from Boston University and a B.A. from the University of Vermont.
Dominic Casserley is a Senior Advisor in the Financial Services Group at Warburg Pincus. Previously, Mr. Casserley served as CEO and a Board member of Willis Group Holdings, a leading global risk advisory, reinsurance broking, and human capital and benefits firm, beginning in 2013. He led the company’s merger with Towers Watson to create Willis Towers Watson in January 2016 and served as President, Deputy CEO and a Board member of the combined company until December 2016. Mr. Casserley previously spent 30 years at McKinsey & Company, where he held several senior leadership positions in New York, Hong Kong and London, and had a consulting focus on financial services and risk management. Mr. Casserley is a graduate of the University of Cambridge.
Bob Fitzgerald is the Chief Executive Officer of SCM. Bob was appointed the CEO of SCM in January of 2015, succeeding the corporation’s founder, Larry Shumka. Bob is tasked with overseeing SCM’s strategy and operations, and leading a company with over 200 offices and 2900 employees. Bob joined SCM in 2011 as President of ClaimsPro. He joined from Aviva Canada where he held the roles of Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing and Underwriting Officer. Prior to those offices, Bob was President of AXA Canada.
Bob has been very active in the insurance industry having Chaired the Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) and the Insurance Bureau of Canada Regulatory Affairs Committee. He is a regular speaker in insurance circles in the fields of claims, strategy, underwriting, marketing and risk management.
Bob holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. He continued his education in the MBA Program at the University of Windsor and the Leadership for the Future Program at Columbia University.
Mr. Lalonde retired from CIBC in December 2010. He joined CIBC in 1987 as an equities research analyst. Subsequent appointments covered most aspects of the business and infrastructure of CIBC. He worked in New York in the equities business and in London as head of CIBC's European operations. He was a member of CIBC's Senior Executive Team between 1999 and 2010. During this period, Mr. Lalonde had responsibility for virtually all of CIBC's administrative and support functions - including finance, human resources, legal and compliance, communications and marketing. He was also appointed interim Chief Risk Officer and managed the Bank's structured credit run-off portfolio. During the last five years of his career at CIBC, Mr. Lalonde headed up the bank's global technology and operations functions.He leads CIBC's retiree campaign for the United Way, chairs the board of the Canadian Stage Company, and acts as a Director of the St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. Mr. Lalonde has a BA degree from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business Administration. He is also a certified director (ICD.D) of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Jonathan Tarshis Neil re-joined TorQuest in 2014, having previously worked at the firm from 2009 to 2011. Prior to re-joining TorQuest, Mr. Tarshis Neil held roles in both operations and finance at Tough Mudder, a leading global endurance event company. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tarshis Neil worked at National Bank Financial in the investment banking group. Mr. Tarshis Neil holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B.Comm. from Queen's University.
Chandler Joel Reedy is a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus in New York and is responsible for late stage investments in the technology and business services sectors. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus in 2004, he was with UBS Investment Bank in the Financial Sponsors and the Mergers and Acquisitions groups. Mr. Reedy is currently a Director of AlliedUniversal, Endurance International Group, MultiView, and SCM Insurance Services. He has also been involved in a number of the firm’s historical investments including ACAMS, CAMP Systems International, ConstructConnect (formerly iSqFt), Coyote Logistics, FIS (formerly Metavante Technologies), Grupo GPS, Institutional Shareholder Services, Interactive Data Corporation, Mission Motors, New Breed Logistics, NYFIX, Wall Street Systems and Yodlee. Mr. Reedy received an A.B. cum laude in economics from Harvard College.
Larry Shumka began his career in the insurance services industry over 34 years ago as an adjuster. During the course of his career, he has served as the President for the Insurance Institute of Canada and the Alberta Association of Insurance Adjusters. As an adjuster he specialized in property losses up to 5 million dollars, course of construction, arson and fraud investigation, computer losses, fidelity and surety, business interruption, and construction liability losses. Mr. Shumka belongs to the Fellowship of Chartered Insurance Professionals. With a degree in Business Management from the University of Alberta, he also has training in negotiation, aircraft accident investigation, managing and developing interpersonal relationships, and is a licensed pilot.
Jeffrey Stein is a principal at Warburg Pincus, a leading global private equity firm with more than $44 billion of assets under management focused on growth investing. Mr. Stein joined Warburg Pincus in 2006 and focuses on investments in the financial services sector, out of the firm’s New York office. During his tenure at Warburg Pincus Mr. Stein has been involved in deals across most financial services sub-sectors, including insurance, asset management, wealth management, banks, and specialty finance. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, Mr. Stein worked in the Firmwide Strategy Group and Financial Institutions Investment Banking Group at Goldman Sachs. He holds a B.S. in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
